The first 50 percent had everything the previous books had, good story, fun romance moments, some good comedy, and very serious moments offset near perfectly with comic relief. Then they went on a tangent with a bunch of politics and repetition followed by the introduction of another legendary spirit whose only purpose seems to be insult and demean the main character, ruin the lives of others, and generally treat everyone even the other spirits on equal terms as him as second class garbage. This is the entire second half of the book, every single word the main character makes is immediately offset by him with an extremely demeaning insult. Repeatedly calling her ugly, repeatedly saying he only really cares about the bodies of beautiful women and even went as far as to say personality doesn't matter and it doesn't matter to him if they have a husband, if they are a child, or even if they are willing. Yes that's what this witty charming book needs, a character who is always ready to insult, rape, and destroy everything in his path. How fitting for the worlds supreme spirit of fire. Absolutely disgusting mockery of a book without even a shred to be compared to any other book written before in this series.
